A distressing incident unfolded at Pandua Rural Hospital in Hooghly district as the dead body of a patient lay unattended on a hospital bed for the entire day on Wednesday. Hospital sources reveal that the deceased, 62-year-old Chandrajit Adhikari, had been admitted on December 22 due to severe breathing problems. Despite the immediate admission, none of Chandrajit's relatives were in contact with the hospital since his admission.
Unfortunately, Chandrajit passed away on Wednesday morning, and to the dismay of other patients, his body remained unattended on the hospital bed throughout the day, emitting a disturbing odor as hours passed.
Hospital administrators attempted to reach out to the patient's son and son-in-law after his demise but received no response. BMOH of Pandua Rural Hospital, Manzoor Alam, expressed concern, stating that the family had not received any updates after the elderly man's admission. Health workers at the hospital took care of the patient until his passing. After multiple attempts to contact the family, arrangements were made in consultation with the police to transfer the deceased's body to the mortuary.
